Haiti

On Saturday, Annie and I leave for Haiti.  I’ll be teaching at a YWAM DTS in the city of Cap Haitian, along the northern coast.  I lived in Haiti for several years in the 80s and 90s where I worked in the slums of Port au Prince helping start literacy centers for indentured children.  In the early 90s a friend and I led a water well drilling ministry near Gonaives.

There are 30 students enrolled in the DTS.  It will be trilingual; Haitian Creole, French and English.  I’ll be teaching on the character of God and more specifically about God as our Father.  I consider it a real gift from the Lord to be able to return to a country close to my heart and teach on a subject that is so dear to me.  Also, Annie Leigh will be with me and I look forward to introducing her to people I love and seeing God work in her life.

Here is a link to the YWAM Cap-Haitianfacebook page.  There are 30 students, 15 of whom are Haitian.  Ask the Lord to work in their lives, the vision of this particular school is to raise up Haitian leaders to bless Haiti AND the world.  We are praying for our Haitian brothers and sisters to be sent out into the world to preach the Gospel!

Church Planting Think Tank

From Haiti, Annie and I will fly back to Miami and then drive to the PIONEERS USA office in Orlando where I’ll be attending a Church Planting Movements ‘think tank’ (Annie will be reconnecting with a life long friend).  There will be 70 church planters from around the world sharing ideas and strategies about planting churches in some really difficult areas, among very resistant-to-the-Gospel peoples.  Pray the Lord would lead the organizers as they plan and prepare.  Pray our church planting teams would benefit from the mutual encouragement and shared vision and be reenergized and refreshed by the Lord.

Preaching in Orlando

On Sunday, June 24, I’ll be preaching at Crossway Community Church Orlando.  The service starts at 10:15 and they meet at the Legacy Middle School (click for directions).  I can’t wait to reconnect with friends there.  If you are in the area it would be great to see you.

A HOUSE in Germany

Finally, 2 weeks later, Annie and I return to France to rejoin Sara and Julia to finish packing for our move on July 18th.  Many are asking, ‘did you get the house???’ Short answer… drum roll… YES!!! The Lord was gracious and the owner accepted the offer we made.  We are looking forward to starting this new adventure, learning a new culture and finally having the space to host people well. As leaders we are increasingly finding the ministry of hospitality central to serving those under our care.  Thank you for praying with us. We were really touched by the number of messages of affirmation we received to move forward in faith on this house. Please continue to pray against our enemy who comes to kill, steal and destroy – John 10:10

We continue to be grateful for your partnership in the Gospel!

Blessings in Jesus’ mighty name!

Steve, Sara, Annie and Julia
