Discovery Bible Study
Dear Epaphras,

Here are a few things to pray for this week… The Discovery Bible Study that meets in our home each Saturday will be finishing the book of James tomorrow.  There are five of us who come together each Saturday morning.  Pray for Andy, Will and Eric that they would grow in their spiritual hunger and thirst for God’s Word. Pray their friends and relatives would respond to the Gospel as their lives are changed by Jesus.

A Syrian Family in Hungary. All they have is a backpack

Refugee Crisis

You’ve undoubtedly seen the overwhelming number of asylum seekers flooding into Europe.  Many of them are stuck in Budapest waiting for safe passage onto Austria and Germany.  Our teams in Hungary are getting involved and demonstrating the love of Christ to these people in desperate circumstances.  Pray for Gospel opportunities for Tahran, our teammate, who makes regular visits to the makeshift refugee camp at the Budapest train station to bring medicine, food and blankets.  Pray for our Area Leader in Hungary, Cathy as she seeks to organise a larger response.  These are potentially overwhelming, yet, exicting times. I just heard that many Syrians are turning to Jesus in Germany as the church their reaches out.  These peoples are fleeing the evils of ISIS and radical Islam and its a prime opportunity to demonstrate God’s love in practical ways.

Julia’s Baptism

This Sunday, Julia Currey will be getting baptised!  She has wanted to for several years and has been encouraged by the adult baptisms taking place in our church.  She came to us last week and said it was clear that God wants her to be baptised.  She said God spoke to her through Acts 22:16, “…and now, what are you waiting for?  Get up, be baptised and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.”  Many of our non believing friends have been invited. Pray they would come, hear Julia’s testimony and respond to the Gospel.

Coming to Coronado

Lastly, on September 12th I (Steve) will be coming to California for a week.  I’m attending a conference on reaching refugees – like the Syrians in Europe.  I’ll be in Coronado a week early to catch up with friends and family.  I’ll be giving a short update at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church on September 13th during both services and then I’ll be accompanying my mom and brother from Salt Lake City to Coronado for a one day visit to St. Paul’s Methodist – her church of 40+ years.  Mom’s friends have organised a brunch after the second service.  If you want to see Jean Lee on the 20th we would love to have you.  She will only be in Coronado for the day.  Please contact Jerry Swisher for details – click here to send Jerry an email.

Blessings in Jesus,

Steve and Sara
