Carved Watermelon in Chaing Mai
Dear Epaphras,

Last year, I (Sara) was nominated for PIONEERS Global Leadership development training held in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Last week, 21 of us and 10 facilitators met for 7 days to discuss, learn from and process diverse issues that affect one’s leadership. This is the global version of the leadership course Steve and his team have been running called Euro-Intent.

It was a very academic, yet profoundly spiritual program.  We were given spiritual and practical tools to better understand, minister to and lead our co-workers.  This leadership course continues for two more years and involves two more trips to Chiang Mai.

Sara returned home to a cheering crowd, of three, after a week in Thailand.  Steve “held down the fort” despite Julia’s ulcers returning and a staph infection in his knee. What a man, father and husband!

This Saturday, and the for the next week, Steve and his team are gathering for the last Euro-Intent leadership development intensive,  in Altensteig, Germany.  24 leaders will be completing the 2 year program.

Prayer Requests :

  • When Sara returned from Thailand Steve’s left leg looked like a tree-trunk (thankfully no pictures were taken).  Following much pain and a trip to the ER, the diagnosis turned out to be a staph infection.  He is on 3 weeks of antibiotics.  Please pray for a speedy healing.
  • Praise the Lord for the healing for Julia’s ulcers – prayer + the right meds pushed them into hiding…
  • For the 24 we are graduating from the Euro-Intent leadership development program in Germany next week are already in significant leadership roles.  Pray the skills learned these two years would allow them to continue ministering from a place of abiding in Christ…  as they do, we know they will be producing much, lasting fruit!  Pray for the facilitation team.  This is the home stretch and we want to finish well.  Ask the Lord for His Spirit to guide, inspire each session and protect each participant during this final week of training.  Ask for unity among the participants who are from 11 different cultural backgrounds.
  • Lastly, we just heard that Steve won the case against the family benefits office in France (all residents of France with children pay into a system via income and housing taxes, social security and VAT and hence should receive monthly benefits).  Winning this case, sets jurisprudence and means many other missionaries in France will receive family benefits for their children, which will help toward their education and extra curricular activities.  This makes living in France a little less expensive.  Thank you Jesus!
