Dear Epaphras,
On the island of Malta last month, our group was exactly the size of the crew and passengers of Paul’s ill-fated journey of the first century! Yes, by coincidence, we were 276 adults and children (cf. acts 27). It was a glorious week of refreshment and encouragement! You prayed it would be and the Lord answered. Annie and Julia loved the kids program and meeting fellow TCKs -Julia wore her name-tag for weeks following. Sara connected in a significant way with our female leaders in Europe. The weather cooperated. Many airlines lowered their prices at the last minute, allowing several we asked you to pray for to come. And, the icing on the cake was that two hotel workers came to know and follow Christ during our stay!
Chiang Mai
Immediately after Malta Steve flew to Thailand to co-lead a meeting of the 41 Area Leaders from our mission. It was the first time this level of leadership met together. The goal was to worship Jesus, intercede for our workers and talk about issues that affect this strategic level of leadership. On the last day of our meetings we met together with mobilization personnel from 21 different PIONEERS sending offices from around the globe.
The Lord is calling church planters from places like Mexico, Haiti, Brazil, the Philippines and Egypt. I had the privilege of getting to know an Egyptian church planter in Sudan, N—, who just barely escaped with his family hours before police raided his home. He is currently back in Egypt seeking the Lord about possibly serving in french speaking West Africa.
Some encouraging news :
- 10 people in Montpelier turned to Christ two weeks ago during a concert / outreach event.
- The Louange Out Loud team (french kids worship project led by Sara) has ordered 1000 more CD’s for distribution and our first CD, Ensemble C’est Mieux, was just underwritten by France’s only christian record label. (details)
- Discovery Bible Method church planting training has been completed in Budapest, Montenegro and is scheduled come to Biarritz later this month! The training is having a very positive impact on our church planters who are seeing more and more fruit as they intercede for and preach Christ among the unreached of Europe!
